Pigaroo ate his lunch of bread crust and apple skins until his round little tummy grew even rounder. Then he lay down in the corner, ready for his afternoon nap. He tried to go to sleep, but he kept feeling like he wanted something.

"I’m still hungry for something," he thought, "but I don’t know what. Maybe it’s something sweet. Yes, that’s it. I want some honey. "

" Mama," Pigaroo said to his mother, lying on her side in the shade, "I would like it very much if I could have some honey for dessert."

Mama Pig shook her ears at a stubborn fly. "Well, you may go ask Bees-wax for some if you like. Remember to say please and don’t forget to say thank you." She rolled over and over in the mud until her whole body was cool and wet.

"Please and thank you, please and thank you," grumbled Pigaroo as he trotted off towards Bees-wax’ hive. "Please and thank you is such a waste of time. So are all those other manners. Why should I have to be polite?"
